In fact most misbehaviours and/or destructive behaviours stem from excess pent up energy that the dog is not able to expend on a daily basis. And although leashed neighbourhood walks have their merits, most dogs will benefit greatly from supervised off leash dog walks. I have personally witnessed for myself, the miracle of gifting this freedom to my own dog and dogs I have sat, boarded and cared for. After a good two hours of walking, running, chasing, hunting, sniffing and playing, the dog’s physical, mental and social/emotional energies are satiated and they are now ready to just chill and relax with their families at home. The off leash experience allows for mental social and physical stimulation, interaction and growth. Dogs learn how to properly communicate with other dogs by learning how to read, interpret and convey universal dog signals. And sure, just as in life you and your dog may come across uncomfortable situations or cross paths with dogs who lack social dog etiquette, or are down right aggressive, that’s when we as their level headed owners are there for, to protect, prevent and supervise.
